The Tempus Public Foundation and six Hungarian higher education institutions will represent Hungary at the 77th NAFSA Institutional Fair, one of the world’s largest international education events. The exhibition, along with the conference, will take place in sunny San Diego, California, from May 27-30, 2025. This year’s event is themed around
NAFSA (National Association of Foreign Student Advisers), the largest non-profit organisation for international education in the world, boasts over 10,000 members globally. Its activities span from internationalising university campuses and student advising to supporting global higher education trends. This year’s event will be on an impressive scale, with more than 300 exhibitors and 10,000 participants from 100 countries.
At the Hungarian delegation's stand, representatives from six renowned Hungarian institutions will be ready to engage with visitors: the University of Szeged, Corvinus University of Budapest, the University of Debrecen, Eszterházy Károly Catholic University, the Hungarian University of Sports Science, and the University of Pécs.
The representatives of the Tempus Public Foundation actively participate in the conference programs, including section presentations and networking events, and will showcase three poster presentations on the following topics:
- The impact of long-term scholarship programs on mobility trends: Presentation of data-driven results from the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program, illustrating the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education, the growth of incoming student mobility, and improvements in institutional quality.
- Comprehensive support for the internationalisation of higher education institutions: This overview of support mechanisms aimed at enhancing services for international students and researchers, addressing the challenges posed by increasing student numbers.
- Understanding the obstacles of study abroad: Student- and university-level factors: The research highlights that low participation in student mobility is influenced not only by student-level factors but also significantly by the university environment.
The NAFSA 2025 conference will feature several special programs, such as thematic symposiums on the integration of refugee students and social inclusion, keynote speeches from renowned presenters, and the NAFSA Awards Banquet. These events will provide opportunities for discussions on the future of international education and strengthening global connections.
This event offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen Hungary’s and Hungarian higher education’s international position, as well as to establish new, fruitful collaborations.
